It's called the Road to Destiny. I'll be posting it on here soon. And the weird thing about writing, or all the arts, is that when you're working on something you start to hate it. Once you've finished it, you love it, but don't think it's your best. And at the moment ]]><![CDATA[Dr Seuss' Twilight]]>Sat, 10 Mar 2012 08:31:52 GMThttp://www.ollysworld.co.uk/im-real/dr-seuss-twilightA hilarious spoof by unicycle of io9.
Jake likes a girl. Her name is Bella.
Bella likes a different fella.

See this vamp? This is Ed.
Ed is pale. Ed is dead.

Ed saved Bella from a van.
Ed must be a special man.

Ed won't kill boys. He won't kill girls.
Ed gets fed on deer and squirrels.

This is James. He's a tracker.
He's a sort of vamp attacker.

James hunts Bella for a thrill.
Will Ed kill him? Yes, he will.

But James gave her a little bite.
Will she be a vamp? She might!

Edward fixes Bella's cut.
She won't be a vampire.

She becomes one. Read some more.
She's a vampire in book 4.
<![CDATA[The Rainbow Connection]]>Sat, 03 Mar 2012 09:59:16 GMThttp://www.ollysworld.co.uk/im-real/the-rainbow-connectionWhy are there so many stories about rainbows?
No one truly has any idea why rainbows are so enigmatic, mysterious or magical. Way back then in the days before modern science rainbows would be viewed as magical occurrences and it wouldn't have seemed like there was any pattern to them. The Norse thought of them as something that happened when their gods wanted to get somewhere (not Thor however because he was way too heavy). Now they're seen as symbolic (must resist) and are an icon of the LGBT community.
That's Polychrome, daughter of the Rainbow in the Oz books. Just another example of the rainbow's irresistible pull. I will now leave you with a YouTube video.
<![CDATA[Chess]]>Fri, 02 Mar 2012 15:46:36 GMThttp://www.ollysworld.co.uk/im-real/chessI'm fascinated with the theme of the manipulator-the Grandmaster, if you will.
The first time I found this theme was in Sluggy Freelance with Bun-Bun and Zoe during the demon Gwen arc. It's recurred often since then, even being mocked by a Muppet Comic Series. I don't think I'd ever be able to write a complex Grandmaster but I love trying to. However, each time I try it slips through my hands like water.
They could also be referred to as puppets and I love that. It could be Scraps (from the extended Oz books) was simply a puppet of a higher power. Of course, that's taking it to it's most literal so it's much more likely the Wicked Witches (unnamed three of the South, West and East and Mombi of the North) or the Nome King are puppets of... I don't know the Rainbow (it's an actual being in the Oz books and it has a daughter-Polychrome-yes, it's just as cheesy as you think it'd be and no, it's not evil that's just something my insane brain thinks of) or more likely the Wicked Witches puppets of the Nome King or General Jinjur (god, I love her as a villain).
That's my little rant on the theme on the manipulator that turned into a brainstorming session on Oz.
